Tech setup in 5 minutes
You play Localnauts outdoors on a phone or tablet, in the browser. A little preparation saves you hassle on the way — especially with sound, the screen and the permissions. Run through it once before you start and the mission runs smoothly.
1 · Before you set off (best done at home on Wi-Fi)
2 · Set the device up right
Sound on
Nauti talks to you. Turn off the silent switch, volume up. If there's still no sound, tap 'Tap for sound' once in the game — browsers block auto-sound until you tap once.
Keep the screen on
So the display doesn't keep switching off: iPhone/iPad → Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → 5 minutes or Never. Android → Settings → Display → Screen timeout → 5–10 minutes.
Internet on the go
For the map and GPS: turn on mobile data. No phone with a data plan? Turn on a hotspot on a parent's phone and connect the game device to it.
Location / GPS on
Switch on location services — otherwise the map doesn't know where you are.
3 · Allow in the browser — just tap 'Allow' when first asked
4 · If 'Block' was tapped by accident
No drama:
- Photos still work — the camera opens at the station in its own window, independently of the permission.
- The microphone isn't needed — just tap 'We said it out loud'.
Re-allow permanently (needed for GPS if declined by accident):
- 1.Tap the lock or info symbol on the left of the address bar.
- 2.Set the permission (location / camera / microphone) to 'Allow'.
- 3.Reload the page.
Important: once a permission has been declined, the browser can't ask again via a button in the game — only via this lock symbol. So it's best to tap 'Allow' the first time you're asked.
Quick checklist before you start
Have fun, Localnauts!
